Dental cleanings are important to achieving long term dental health. At Alexander Dentistry, our dental cleanings are performed by a dental hygienist. Beyond the cleaning, this visit may also include digital x-rays, oral cancer screening and bite analysis. Dr. Alexander takes time to meet with each patient individually to discuss any problems or concerns that they might have.

Dr. Alexander will recommend a professional oral health care schedule based on your needs; it may be twice a year or more frequent depending on your circumstances.

If you present with early signs of gum disease, we may perform scaling and root planing to remove plaque and tartar from deep pockets in the gum. Gum disease is a leading cause of tooth loss in adults, many patients may have gingivitis, an early stage of gum disease, but not experience symptoms. Most problems can be detected during the dental cleaning to prevent future damage, infection or decay.

Dental cleanings are especially important to the oral health of children and adolescents. Children and teens are particularly susceptible to cavities and plaque and tartar build up. Our staff is experienced at working with children and understand their unique needs, striving to make them as comfortable as possible during their visit.
