CEREC Single Visit Dentistry is a cutting-edge technology that Dr. Alexander uses at his Jacksonville dental office to save patients time, money and to make their visits more comfortable.
In just one visit, Dr. Alexander can restore damaged teeth with tooth-colored, natural looking ceramic fillings, dental crowns and porcelain veneers. Where two or three visits were needed for these procedures, Dr. Alexander can send patients home with natural looking results the same day.
What is CEREC?
CEREC stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. In a single visit, Dr. Alexander creates high quality, tooth-like ceramic restorations; saving the patient time and money.
How does CEREC work?
CEREC uses CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) technology, incorporating a camera, computer and milling machine in one instrument. Dr. Alexander uses a special camera to capture an optical impression of the damaged tooth. This precise image is digitally transferred and displayed on a color computer screen, where the dentist uses CAD technology to design the restoration. Then CAM takes over and automatically creates the restoration while you wait. Finally, the dentist bonds the new restoration to the surface of the old tooth. The whole process takes about one hour.
